“THE NEW YORK TIMES” ELEGE ALENTEJO COMO DESTINO A VISITAR EM 2015

Why would anybody want to visit a region of a country that perpetrated the worst genocide in modern history (1972)? It has been covered up to date by both the portuguese government and the united nations. Please do not spend your hear, earned money visiting such a country. You can do as you please, of course, but i appeal to all in the name of humanity and what is just to do the right thing, and not patronise such a country. Thank you.

"How is it that there is such a profound amnesia in Portugal on the topic of the Wiriyamu genocide? To date, the Portuguese do not feel the weight that is the Moorish part of the history of Portugal?

The chapter on crimes committed by Portugal is not completely closed with the monument in Mozambique in honour of the victims of the Wiriyamu genocide.

Portugal does not recognize the structural, systemic violence it practised in the colonies.

In addition to accepting responsibility officially, the Portuguese government should erect a monument in Portugal in permanent memory of this historical period, a salutary reminder for its collective citizenry of its actions in the former African colonies."

Why would anybody wish to visit a region of a country where the worst genocide in modern times occurred and was not only covered up by the portuguese government but the United Nations as well?

Colonial Wars in Africa and lying to ourselves and our children generation after generation is not the solution! We have to STOP making up our own history and start telling the truth about the blood Portugal has on it's hands as it wiped out whole cultures in Africa, India, and Brasil.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege to post on your website as a Portuguese man who is truly sorry for all the hate and crimes my country of Portugal has perpetrated since it's founding as a nation that stole all the lands we own today by slaughtering the Moors by 711 A.D.
