Democratic Party central board chairman Ramadhan Pohan has questioned the integrity of a recent survey conducted by Indo Barometer ranking the late president Soeharto as the most successful president Indonesia has had.
“If Indo Barometer says Soeharto was the most successful President in our country then from what perspective? Are they saying the student activists’ abduction, rampant corrupt practices and human rights abuse that happened during the Soeharto regime mean nothing?” Ramadhan said Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
However, Ramadhan added that the survey was an attempt by the public to monitor the performance of the current administration.
“The ball is in the government’s court now — whether they want to improve or not.”
Indo Barometer recently announced it's finding that the public widely regarded Soeharto as the most successful Indonesian president of all time, out-matching the current President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who came in second.
Ranked third was Indonesia's first president, Sukarno.
